Re-Elect Judge Angela M. King County Criminal Court #6
The Honorable Judge Angela M. King is the presiding judge over Dallas County Criminal Court #6. Judge King was elected in 2006 and has been working hard to provide equality, integrity and fairness in our judicial system.
Judge King graduated from Skyline High School in Dallas, Texas. She attended Prairie View A&M Univeristy where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. Judge King is a third generation graduate of Prairie View A&M University and served a term as the National Association of Black Accountants Homecoming Queen. Prior to attending law school, Judge King served as an Assistant Texas State Auditor in Austin, Texas and as Assistant Grant, Contract & Loan Administrator for Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana.
After receiving a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana, Judge King returned home to Dallas and served as an Assistant County & District Attorney in Ellis and Dallas Counties. Judge King is the proud mother of one son, Jalen. She enjoys volunteering with students, church activities where she is a member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church, membership with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., attending political forums, watching episodes of Matlock and Perry Mason, and sewing.
In Court, prosecuting attorneys and defense attorneys are expected to exercise professionalism and ethical courtesy. The Defendants can expect to have their cases resolved in a timely manner. Judge King is always concerned with protecting the rights of the Victims and the Defendants in order to ensure justice is served.
Judge King is always meeting young people with great hope and promise who show enormous intellect and imagination. When young people have exposure to opportunities that give them something constructive to do and something to look forward to, they have a better chance of avoiding becoming adult offenders. Whenever possible, Judge King lends the courtroom to various moot court competitions. One of her favorites is put on by the Youth Conflict Resolution Center.
"Having grown up in Oak Cliff, she says, she has a better feel for when someone needs punishment and when they can be reformed. Probation is expensive, she points out, and sometimes sending a person to jail will do him or her good." Dallas Morning News
Judge King has an open door policy and welcomes and encourages interested persons to watch a trial, see how court operates and speak with court personnel. County Criminal Court #6 is located in the Frank Crowley Courthouse at 133 N. Riverfront Blvd, 3rd floor, Dallas, Texas 75207, 214-653-5655.
